Rudy was found dumped and abandoned in a plastic bucket in NYC and brought into animal control.

SNARR Animal Rescue Northeast was asked to save him, as he needed immediate care.

He was half dead, emaciated, hairless and covered in what we think were acid or cigarette burns. Rudy was one of the most heartbreaking cases SNARR rescue has ever had to deal with.

Every time they would go to touch him or pet him, he would duck his head in fear.

Though at first he was really scared, his medicinal baths that he took for skin recovery and his loving foster family helped Rudy learn to trust people again.

Rudy went to an amazing foster home where he was doted on by two talented veterinarians who take some of our toughest cases. It turns out that Rudy had Cushing’s disease as well as degenerative disc disease.

He received his herbal baths and soaks daily; sometimes even with candles and soft music

Rudy’s disc issue slowly got worse and we got him a wheelchair. His fur grew back in and Rudy looked as handsome as ever!

Recently, he began declining and lost the use of all 4 legs. His foster family made the very difficult decision to put him to sleep.

All the kindness, care and love that Rudy received at the end of his life wasn’t enough to save him…

Rudy got 8 months of love, care and spoiling. We can only hope that that 8 months helped to show him how life was supposed to be and that he was loved immensely.

Picasso, a pit bull corgi mix destined for euthanasia steals everyone’s heart over the internet and becomes a true star!

The corgi pit bull mix named Picasso because of his deformed face was saved alongside his brother Pablo from the euthanasia list of a high-kill animal shelter

He was destined for euthanasia, but instead, he became an international celebrity!

Picasso, a 10-month-old pit bull-corgi mix who was rescued alongside with his brother Pablo from a high-kill animal shelter in Southern California, is now a true star.

Pablo and Picasso are brothers, and they were born to a backyard breeder. At only 8 months, they were surrendered to the Porterville Animal Shelter in California by their breeder/owner, because he could not sell them. They were both at high risk of being killed as they were instantly put on the euthanasia list.

Picasso has a very noticeable facial deformity, with his upper jaw twisting sharply to the right, making his nose point off to the side. His misaligned snout makes him look unreal, just like a subject of Pablo Picasso’s paintings, and that’s how he got his name.

They were saved from the death row by Luvable Dog Rescue, a nonprofit animal shelter from Oregon, that often takes “hard to place” dogs with medical conditions, just like Picasso.

They wrote on their website:

“I saw this dog’s photo at the Porterville animal shelter and knew he had to come to Luvable…! Then I found out he was on the euthanasia list. Then I found out he had a “normal looking” brother who was also on the euthanasia list. Both dogs had been surrendered to the shelter by their breeder/owner.

I couldn’t imagine taking one boy and not the other. So we got them both out and now they are here, safe, at Luvable Dog Rescue in Oregon and they are both just awesome dogs! We named them Picasso and Pablo, and Picasso’s amazing face has already received a lot of attention!”

Liesl Wilhardt, executive director of Luvable Dog Rescue, said the bark around Picasso started after they posted videos of him on its Instagram account. Other media outlets immediately took over the story and now Picasso became famous!

Besides his looks, Picasso acts just like any other dog. “He is completely unselfconscious about his looks and does not judge himself or others harshly on outward appearances,” Wilhardt said.

Picasso will have a dental surgery to correct his painful condition and to remove the teeth that are digging into his mouth.

Only after that, the shelter will evaluate what’s best for Picasso and Pablo, who will be put up for adoption as a pair, because of their unbreakable bond.

The rescue has already received a huge amount of adoption requests for the pair, but are going to take their time choosing the best home for these two sweet and loving dogs.

“We have been swamped with offers from people from all over the country to adopt these boys. We really appreciate the amazing show of love and appreciation for these special dogs!

We ask that people be patient with Luvable as we are doing our best to respond to inquiries while also continuing to run our Rescue and provide for the everyday needs of all of our other dogs!

At this time, Picasso needs dental surgery and we would like to get him through any required medical treatment and healthy before considering what type of home will be best for him and Pablo. They do need to be placed together.”

LATEST UPDATE: Life is cruel sometimes, and just a few days ago, Pablo suddenly died, probably because brain aneurysm…

Here is the heartbreaking statement from Luvable, posted on their instagram:

“Pablo died from what our vet believes was a brain aneurism. We had a necropsy for Pablo. We needed an answer. He was young and healthy and it looked like he just went to sleep and didn’t wake up. We are still in shock. We waited to tell you until we had an answer because this made no sense.

It still makes no sense. As I write this, Picasso is curled up against me. He is confused and sad. But I promise we will get him through this.”

Hope For Paws got an urgent call about a severely injured dog that was wandering the streets until it collapsed in a dark alley in Los Angeles.  It appeared that the dog was used as a bait for dogfighting, and it was in a terrible condition. Her skin was all covered in scrapes and wounds and needed help really bad.

Bait dogs live short and tortured lives, as they are used to help train other dogs to fight. As a bait dog, you are never allowed to fight back… if Hope for Paws had not stepped in to rescue her, there is no doubt that this sweet amazing dog would not have survived.

With a lot of patience and sweet talk, they were able to get her into their rescue van and back to their vet facility for immediate care.

When the dog stood up, they could see how extensive her injuries were.

She was named Cadence and little by little, she made an absolutely remarkable recovery. After being treated for her wounds and surrounded with love, she was ready for her new life!

At her foster home, she learned to swim and enjoy life. She loves other dogs and she is very gentle with children, just like any other pit bull dog!

Her rescue and transformation from an injured bait dog to a happy pittie is absolutely impressive. Please SHARE this amazing story!

Woman adopts a Pit Bull dog and surprisingly finds out that he can detect seizures! Amazing!

A woman who wanted to adopt a shelter dog as a companion for her and her son got instead much more than she expected

Published

Danielle Zukerman, a former navy nuclear scientist from California, didn’t plan on getting a seizure alert dog when she adopted a friendly Pit Bull dog named Thor from Sammie’s Friends Animal Shelter, but she got one anyway!

Initially, she did not know about Thor’s ability, which is really important for Danielle because due to a spinal cord injury she suffers from regular seizures.

Just a few days after he arrived at his new home, Thor jumped into her lap and started to bark frantically. At first, she was really confused, thinking that something must be wrong with the dog, but about 15 minutes later, she had a seizure.

Each time Zuckerman was on the brink of a seizure, Thor warned her regularly! In the next two months, he let his owner know eight times that she was going to have a seizure soon.

This helped her tremendously. She had enough time to take a new medication that cuts the length of her seizure from five minutes to just 90 seconds.

Zuckerman says, “I feel so much more comfortable, going out in public and going to do things because when you’re an epileptic, you don’t have control over your own body.”

Zuckerman’s doctor thinks that before having a seizure, she releases hormones that no human can sense, but a dog can.

Thor wasn’t trained as a service animal, but he just naturally started to warn his new owner, and that is impressive! He must really love his new mommy!
